Really My Dearest Friend

Femslash-implied reader insert with Seraphine (K/DA League of Legends AU). Reader's gender is never specified but it is gay.

Reader has been pining after Seraphine and has watched her go on date after date...

This was posted to my Ao3 but I've made some (small) edits for here.

"And I just don't get why I bother. Like, why is she trying to make a move on me during our first date? A coffee date, for that matter," Seraphine finishes her rant, sighing deeply as she taps her fingers on the dark countertop. You nod slowly, fixated on her long nails—white to pink gradients with silver sparkles—while you formulate what to say. "I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with dating," you say, feeling like you should add more but you're unsure what exactly to say. 'I didn't like her much in the first place,' felt like the wrong thing to think, let alone say.

"Yeah, well," she says with a stretch, "at least I have you Y/N." You trade smiles, "I feel the same way about you, we should really hang out more." Her smile grows brighter and she giggles, "God, I'd appreciate that. You can be my practice date." A pang of longing shoots through your heart, though you maintain your smile.

"Oh, let's do a sleepover tonight! At my place," Seraphine claps her hands excitedly. You perk up. You were hoping for some one-on-one time, but spending an entire night with Seraphine is still a very appealing idea. And, maybe you can subtly ask someone in the K/DA group to give you intel on her. "Sure, I'll go grab pajamas and my toothbrush. Then we can head over?" you ask and she gives you a quick nod.

"Oh come on!" Kai'sa hisses annoyedly from your left, almost smacking you in the face with her joycon. "Kai'sa please don't kill my best friend," Seraphine says from your right with a giggle. "Oh, sorry Y/N," Kai'sa says quickly. "True, I don't have the energy to hide a body. I'm exhausted from shitting on Kai'sa seven times in a row," Akali says in sly agreement. Kai'sa stares daggers at her before Ahri chimes in lightly, "Kai'sa, it's just a fighting game." This causes Akali and Kai'sa to both protest in unison before Evelynn claps her hands and orders, "Bedtime."

It's just you and Seraphine in the living room now. "Now what? Movie? Or wait! We need to take a pic," she says, getting out her phone. You know Seraphine likes to take selfies with friends for any notable time together to look through whenever she's in the thick of it with her depression. You scoot closer to her on the soft couch before noticing in the preview how faded your lipstick is. "Agh, let me take this off first," you say, pulling back.

"I think I wear close to the same shade, you can just use mine to fix it," Seraphine says as she fishes in the bag at her feet. She hands you a compact too, and as you apply it your thoughts run with the fact this has touched her lips. It's something like an almost ghost of a kiss. You both go for a second attempt at taking the selfie before Seraphine suddenly has an idea. "What if we swap hoodie and sweater? It'll be cute."

You grin and begin immediately unzipping your hoodie. You look over at Seraphine to see she's wearing a cute black tank top and is already visibly cold without her fluffy white sweater. You wrap your hoodie around her shoulders quickly. "Thanks, Y/N."

After you take your selfie and Seraphine thinks of a cute caption for Instagram, the two of you decided you were both too tired to watch a movie. You find yourself sitting next to her on her queen-sized bed as she brushes her hair. "Do you want some help?" you offer. "Mm, yes please," she replies and you take the brush.

"Y/N," Seraphine begins, "I just wanted to say... you're really my dearest friend." You inhale sharply. "You're my dearest friend too Seraphine."

And then it just comes out, as if involuntary, "But." She turns her head, bright blue eyes meeting yours as she waits for you to continue. Her expression is difficult to read, but now that you've somehow shoved yourself into this situation you take the opportunity to continue.

"But maybe I want to ruin that – uh, I mean, just, maybe I want to be something different? Like, something more... gay?" the words tumble out of your mouth until that final word. Your face feels hot and you know it must be a bright red. She blinks before smiling shyly. "I wasn't sure," she whispers before turning fully to face you, "if you felt the same way."

"Maybe we should be lovers instead?" you let out nervously with a small laugh. "I'd like that," she whispers. The kiss is short and sweet and ends with both of you smiling and crying. The rest of the night is filled with compliments, giggling, teasing, cuddling, and happy crying.
